Published Thu 18 Mar 2021

The action got underway yesterday in the Moreton Bay PSA Satellite at Redcliffe PCYC.

The first match of the event saw unseeded Redcliffe local Brad Freeme take on 5th seed David Turner. Turner started off strong but Freeme proved too strong, pushing through for 3-0 victory 11-8, 11-5, 11-5 (30 mins).

In the first round match of the Women’s PSA draw, Samantha Foyle took on 15 year old star [8th seed] Madison Lyon. Foyle put Lyon through her paces but in the end, Lyon was able to push her opponent to the edge and claim victory 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 11-4 (25 mins).

The longest match of the day saw unseeded Caleb Johnson take on 7th seed Lachlan Coxsedge in a gruelling 5-setter. Coxsedge took to the court in his first PSA tournament since returning from injury with high hopes of taking out his unseeded opponent, however, Johnson was able to take the lead in the fifth game and see victory over Coxsedge with a final result of 7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6 (55 mins).

Men’s and Women’s quarter finals kick off today at 5:40pm AEST.
