A big weekend of action is set to hit Scarborough Squash Club with the 2023 Moreton Bay PSA Satellite and 2023 Queensland Open graded events taking place from Friday to Sunday.
The PSA Satellite event is being spearheaded by Australia’s number one female squash player Jess Turnbull who is the number one seed for the event.
Turnbull is fresh from a semi final appearance at the Calgary Women’s Squash Week, a PSA Challenger 20 event where the 27-year-old took down two top-60 opponents on her way to the final four.
Rhys Dowling, currently Australia’s number three ranked player, sits atop the men’s draw as top seed.
This is the Third Moreton Bay PSA Satellite event created to benefit players getting started on the PSA Tour and it is proudly supported by Moreton Bay Regional Council.
Mayor Peter Flannery welcomed elite squash to Moreton Bay, an event secured through Council’s Event Sponsorship program.
“This is a great opportunity for travelling players, coaches, and spectators to not only make the most of our incredible sporting facilities but also extend their stay to discover our region,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Moreton Bay’s booming tourism popularity is back on track post-Covid with up to 4.3 million holiday-makers expected to explore our pristine coastlines and stunning hinterlands this year.
“We are heavily investing in sport infrastructure in Moreton Bay and will be hosting the Brazilian team for the FIFA Women’s World Cup right here later this year.
