Turnbull claims Oceania title

Jess Turnbull has taken all before her at the Oceania Closed event in a tournament where the Aussie women shone.

The Oceania Closed is a regional PSA event which is only open to athletes from the region.

Australian players filled four of the top five seedings in the women's draw with all players making it safely through to the quarter-finals.

Experience won out over youth in the quarters when Sarah Caldwell (VIC) downed Madison Lyon (QLD), with Alex Haydon (SA) and Turnbull also making it to the final four.

Haydon didn't have it all her way in the semis, needing four games to overcome Cardwell while Turnbull also dropped a game to Lana Harrison (NZL) but still proceeded to the decider.

With Australia's top two women facing off in the final it was Turnbull who proved triumphant to claim the title.

In the men's draw, Joseph White, Rhys Dowling and David Turner all made it through to the quarter-finals, however it was only White who managed to qualify for the final four.

Despite taking the first game of his semi against Temwa Chileshe (NZL), White went down in four games before his opponent finished runner-up to his brother Lwamba Chileshe in the final.
