Squash features at VIS Open Day

Squash Australia and Squash & Racquetball Victoria recently had the opportunity to be part of the successful Victorian Insitute of Sport Open Day held at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.

Over a thousand people attended the Open day where children and parents were able to partcipate in - amongst other sports - squash activities, get advice from leading players and learn more about the new and innovative national participation program, Squash Stars.

VIS athletes Joanne Joseph, Amelie Guziak and Darcy Hayes were present to lend their expertise.

The interactive opportunities allowed novices to try their hand at squash, many of those for the first time.

"The VIS Open Day was a great opportunity to showcase squash to families who may not have particpated in it before, and introduce them to how accessible the sport is for everyone," said Shaun McEachin, Squash Australia National Lead – Sport Development.

"Eleven of our players - including a third of Australia's World Junior Championships team - are supported by VIS and this was a wonderful opportunity to show the wider community how our leading players first started in sport."
