Squash Australia Education Calendar
Published Tue 28 Mar 2023
Squash Australia has launched a new education calendar to enhance the quality of development and education for the squash community.
The calendar provides a consistent standard of course delivery, education and support for clubs, and advanced notice for referee appraisal opportunities. With this new calendar, Squash Australia aims to create a more robust, well-rounded, and inclusive squash experience for all stakeholders.
The education calendar comprises several L1 Coach Certification Courses to be held in South Australia and Queensland. Courses for other states and territories are set to be added shortly.
The courses are designed to provide coaches with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality coaching to members. Coaches will be trained in accordance with the World Squash Coaching Certification framework, which was adopted by Squash Australia in March 2022. The framework is recognized worldwide and ensures that coaches are trained to the same high standards, regardless of their location.
In addition to the Coach Certification Courses, the education calendar includes several online courses for clubs. The online courses cover various topics, including LGBTQ awareness training (which will be delivered by Pride in Sport) and volunteer recruitment (which will be provided by the Australian Sports Commission). These courses will provide clubs with the necessary tools and knowledge to create a more inclusive and diverse environment within their clubs.
"Squash Australia has invested extensively in creating an online environment that puts technology at the centre of the squash experience for all stakeholders," said Shaun McEachin, Squash Australia National Lead - Sport Development. "This includes competitions, tournaments, and education.
"By bringing together our Squash Australia Learning Centre and MySquashAUS member portals, powered by revolutioniseSPORT, we are providing members and the squash community with an increasing professional development and club support resource."
The new education calendar is a step towards a more professional and inclusive squash community in Australia. The courses and resources provided will equip coaches, referees, and clubs with the necessary skills and knowledge to create a more robust and inclusive squash environment.
With Squash Australia's investment in technology, the online courses will be accessible to all stakeholders, regardless of their location. Squash enthusiasts can look forward to a more vibrant, professional, and inclusive squash community in Australia.
