Squash Australia begins the rollout of the new online World Squash Officiating certifications

Published Fri 01 Jul 2022

Squash Australia is excited to announce the launch of its new World Squash Officiating (WSO) certification framework.

Along with access to world standard courses via the launch of the new Levels 0 to 3 Officiating Certifications, squash officials across Australia can now begin their migration to the new Squash Australia Certification Framework.

Certifications will become available through the Squash Australia Learning Centre from Monday 4 July.

Today’s announcement comes after Squash Australia partnered with WSO in September last year to provide referees with educational resources online, as Australia moved to adopt  standardised squash officiating qualifications which will be recognised worldwide.

Squash Australia became one of the first WSF Member Federations to partner with WSO and adopt their model to develop a clearer and more robust pathway for Australian referees, in line with international standards.

Built in partnership with Sport Australia through the Squash Australia Learning Centre, with the initial stage launched in January this year, the platform will become a one-stop-shop for the squash community.

Squash Australia’s National Lead in Sport Development, Shaun McEachin, said it was a huge undertaking from all involved to get the Certifications up and running.

“There is a significant volume of work that has progressed thanks to contributions from World Squash Officiating, Sport Australia and our Referee Advisory Group,” McEachin said.

“It also underpins a huge amount of resource development such as the Squash Australia Learning Centre.”

As part of the rollout, Squash Australia’s Community Development Officer Anne-Marie Nickless will host an online instructional Town Hall session for all Australian officials on Wednesday 6 July at 7pm AEST.

This session will provide an overview of the new certification framework and how officials can progress through the resources to manage their certification.
