Squash Australia announces team to compete at 2021 Men’s World Team Championships

Australia will return to international squash competition in December when the men’s team travels to Malaysia to compete in the 2021 Men’s World Team Championships (7-11 Dec). Australia has a proud history in the event as the most successful nation in its history with eight titles.
The 2021 team will mark a changing of the guard in Australian men’s squash, with Northern Territory pair of Joseph White and Rhys Dowling selected to make their senior debuts for Australia. 24-year old White and 26-year old Dowling are currently the top-two ranked Australian men on the PSA Tour. Dowling is also the 2020 Australian Open Champion and will enter the event in good form, after winning the Rockhampton Open earlier this month.
Dowling and White will be joined in Malaysia by the experienced Rex Hedrick and Ryan Cuskelly, who will be making their third and fourth Men’s World Team Championships appearances respectively. After a year away from the PSA Tour in 2020, Hedrick returned in 2021 in commanding style and won the 2021 National Championships in Sydney without dropping a game.
Cuskelly, Australia’s top-ranked male for most of the past decade, returns to bolster Australia’s line-up after switching his international focus from singles to doubles in the past 18 months. The former world no. 12 will bring significant international experience to the team, having led Australia to a third places finish in 2017.
