Squash Australia announce Referee Webinar Series

Published Sun 05 Dec 2021

Squash Australia is pleased to announce it will be hosting a four-part Referee Webinar Series from 17 November to 8 December 2021.

The announcement supports Squash Australia’s commitment to furthering referees’ skills and professional development.

Ahead of competition and tournaments returning next year as Australia re-opens after the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 200+ events on 2022 National Events Calendar, the Webinar Series also offers the chance to re-engage referees from across the country.

It follows Squash Australia’s long-term partnership with World Squash Officiating (WSO) to develop a clearer and more robust pathway for Australian referees that is in line with international standards.

Professional Rugby Union Referee Amy Perrett, who in 2020 became the first female Super Rugby Referee will be the keynote speaker while WSO Director Roy Gingell, WSF Referee Assessor Chris Sinclair, three-time Squash Australian Referee of the Year Nathan Turnbull, have been named at presenters.

Squash Australia’s National Lead - Sport Development, Shaun McEachin believes the Referee Webinar Series will be a great opportunity for referees.

“We have pulled together a fantastic group of presenters with a wealth of experience in refereeing. This series will re-engage our referees and give them an opportunity to hear from some of the world’s best,” McEachin said.

“We have been working hard with our referee community to increase resources that facilitate continual skill development.

“This series, in addition to our recent partnership with WSO and the Squash Australia Learning Centre, will help our referees to deliver a high-quality experience for every squash participant.”

One session will be held every Wednesday evening over four weeks - 17 and 24 November and 1 and 8 December. There is no cost associated with the sessions and after registering for the event, participants will be invited to the session with a link.
