Redcliffe ready to host Moreton Bay PSA Open

The Moreton Bay Open is set to take place this Labour Day long weekend (28 April - 1 May) at Scarborough Squash Club.

The event on the PSA Satellite Tour is set to welcome some of the best PSA athletes in Australia as well as the rising stars of the game with players travelling from across the nation including Tasmania, New South Wales and Western Australia.

It is the second time the Moreton Bay Open has been run. It was originally created to benefit players getting started on the PSA Tour and it is proudly supported by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

The Moreton Bay Open will kick off on Thursday 28th April with the Men’s PSA Open. The first round will see matches such as local player Brad Freeme, who came fourth last year, facing fellow Queenslander Kobe Weder for a place in the final 16.

Daisy Hill Squash Club will be strongly represented with nine players across the men’s and women’s events including Bryan Lim who will come into the Moreton Bay Open with the chance to defend the title from 2021.

It will also be an opportunity for Lim to capture his second PSA Satellite title event of 2022 after taking out the Gold Coast Open Men’s PSA title in late January.

Nick Calvert also returns to the event after reaching the final last year and will be the no.2 seed with his first match coming in round 2 against Victorian, Corben White on Friday.

The Women’s PSA event will see 2018 Commonwealth Games representative Tamika Hunt looking to go one better this time around after finishing runner-up at the event last year.

She will be joined by reigning Australian Junior Open U19 Girl’s champion Madison Lyon, who comes in as the no.2 seed while the U19 Boy’s champion Oscar Curtis will also feature in the event.
