New Zealand claim Junior Trans-Tasman Series

Australia fought back valiantly on day two however New Zealand were too strong, claiming the 2023 Junior Trans-Tasman Series with a 19-13 victory in Tauranga.

The hosts were in formidable form on the opening day of competition, winning 11 matches to. Australia's five.

The morning session of day two was a different story though, with Australia winning six of the eight matches to close the margin to just two.

However New Zealand's senior players came to the fore extending the margin to win 19-13.

The Kiwis' Under 19 players proved the difference between the countries, claiming 13 of the 16 matches across the two days.

Australia get the chance to win back the shield on home soil in April when they host the Series at Melbourne Sports Centres.
