Squash Australia has announced the development of a new digital Learning Centre, in a move that will revolutionise the way coaches, referees, volunteers and staff learn, achieve and keep track of squash accreditations online.
The Squash Australia Learning Centre is being delivered through the Australian Sport Learning Centre (ASLC), a collaboration between Sport Australia and the sport sector that aims to facilitate a seamless learning experience for the sport community.
The new online learning and development platform will benefit from the multi-tenancy model used by the ASLC and will become a one-stop shop for the squash community, including sport-specific information as well as content provided by Sport Australia and Sport Integrity Australia, in a single centralised location.
Squash Australia CEO, Robert Donaghue said that the organisation is excited to be partnering with Sport Australia and the Australian Sports Learning Centre to continue optimising access to learning resources for the squash community. The partnership with Sport Australia follows the recent announcement that Squash Australia will also work closely with World Squash Officiating to standardise squash officiating qualifications worldwide.
“With the Squash Australia Learning Centre, we want to provide our coaches and volunteers with an online platform that will deliver a new and innovative education experience for the sport,” Donaghue said.
“Combining new and engaging squash content with Sport Australia’s industry leading library of resources will ensure the highest level of support for our volunteer workforce and ensure squash is at the forefront of learning and development in sport,” he said.
“We are pleased that Squash Australia will join the Australian Sport Learning Centre, strengthening and simplifying the learning and development approach for their national volunteer workforce,” said Sport Australia Deputy General Manager Industry Capability, Kate Corkery.
“We look forward to bringing Australian Squash into our emerging communities of practice to build sector wide learning and development capability and establish effective best practice learning approaches for sport in Australia,” she said.
Squash Australia joins other major Australian National Sporting Organisations who have already partnered with the ASLC, such as Swimming Australia and Athletics Australia, as Sport Australia continues to strengthen its leadership approach to learning and development in Australia.
“Through this partnership, Squash Australia learners have access to world-class courses developed for the sports industry,” said Shaun McEachin, National Lead – Sport Development for Squash Australia.
“This investment supports our workforce aim of providing training and education pathways that facilitate opportunities for coaches, referees and administrators to progress to a national and international level,” he said.
The Squash Australia Learning Centre will go live in late 2021 with more content and functionalities to be delivered in 2022.
