Madison Lyon takes out Auckland Open

Madison Lyon has scored her first PSA Challenger Tour win with victory at the Auckland Open.

Lyon took down Australian and New Zealand Junior Open winner Ella Lash in the final but had to come from behind to do so.

The New Zealander took the first game 11-8, however Lyon showed good mental strength to even the match up in the second.

The third game went to the wire with the Queenslander winner 11-9 before a more commanding fourth game on her way to victory in the PSA Challenger 3 event.

In the men's draw, Connor Hayes staged an impressive run through the tournament before bowing out in the semi-finals.

The results continue a good run of form in the event for Australian players after Joseph White took out the men's tournament last year while Alex Haydon made the women's final.
