Kooyong to host World Championships qualifiers

Squash Australia will host the 2025 World Championships Qualification event for Oceania with Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club named as the venue for one of the most important events of the year.
This tournament will determine the two qualifiers from the Oceania Region, with the winners of the men’s and women’s tournaments set to take their place in the 2025 PSA World Championships. The event will take place in May however, the venue is yet to be announced by the PSA.
Last year Alex Haydon and Joseph White took out the Oceania qualifiers at Carrara on the Gold Coast to take their place at the World Championships for the first time.
After undergoing centre improvements in recent times, Kooyong is looking forward to playing host to the best players throughout the Oceania region from 10 to 13 April.
“Squash Australia is once again proud to host the PSA World Championships Oceania qualification event,” said Robert Donaghue, Squash Australia CEO. “Australia has a long and proud World Championships history having produced former champions Geoff Hunt, Heather McKay, Rhonda Thorne, Vicki Cardwell, Rodney Martin, Rodney Eyles, Michelle Martin, Sarah Fitz-Gerald, David Palmer, Carol Owens and Rachael Grinham.
“We look forward to seeing who will triumph in April and earn their place to take on the best in the world.”
Australian and New Zealand players featured heavily in the 2024 draw while smaller nations in the Oceania Federation were also represented such as Samoa and Papua New Guinea.

“This Oceania World Championships Qualification event is a Professional Squash Association sanctioned event, and Kooyong and its members are excited to welcome the best talent in the Oceania region as they battle it out for a spot in the 2025 World Championships.”
