Women’s Squash Week is an international campaign that aims to celebrate and raise the profile of female squash.

This year's theme is championing women’s voices which will certainly be on show at Bondi Waverley Squash Club this weekend for the inaugural Women in Squash Week Women's Open.

"We’re excited to kick off our inaugural event as part of Women in Squash Week," said Jess Rogerson, General Manager of Bondi Waverley Squash Club. "This year we have over 50 women competing, and we created this event to encourage women’s engagement in squash and to provide a welcoming space for women of all levels.

"We have players that have only just stared in the last couple of months through to one of Australia's PSA players.

Rogerson said that the event builds community among female athletes and inspires more women to get involved in the sport.

"We want to show women that no matter you age or skill level there can be both a social and competitive aspect to squash," she said.

"We know how important sport is for our physical, mental and emotional health and we hope this event encourages these women to play more often in whatever capacity is best for them."

Bondi Squash club has partnered with East Coast Squash Academy to run women's coaching clinics this week as well.
