Favourites fire up on day two

While there were a few upsets, the majority of top seeds and progressed through to the quarter-finals following day two of the 2025 Australian Junior Open at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre.

UNDER 19
Seven of the top eight seeds have made it through to the Girls Under 19 quarter-finals however it is a famous name which caused a boilover.
Miley Palmer, daughter of Australia's former World No.1 and two-time World Champion David Palmer, overcame Amelie Guziak in five games and now faces a showdown with another Victorian, number two seed Joanne Joseph.
Victoria's Siddanth Ramani has taken down two higher-seeded opponents in as many days to make it through to the Men's Under 19 quarter-finals.
His task gets no easier though with a showdown against New Zealand's number one seed Oliver Dunbar on Tuesday.
Marcus Wang (NSW) produced the only other upset in the round of 16, overcoming Queensland's Josh Raj 3-0 late in the day.
UNDER 17
Another famous name in Australian squash caused a day two upset, this time in the Girls Under 17 draw.
Amalia Ricketts, daughter of 2005 British Open champion and former World number 3 Anthony Ricketts, defeated NSW number two seed Jade Reynolds in three straight games.
She will now face 2024 Under 15 Australian Junior Champion Emilia Scott for a place in the semi-finals.
In the boys draw, Joel Raj's showdown with Bryce Correa drew a huge crowd which was treated to the match of the day. In the end if was Raj (pictured) who outlasted the 3/4 seed to move into the quarters. There he will meet Henry Kross, hoping to take revenge on the New South Welshman who outlasted him in an epic 2024 AJC final.
WA's Aiden Finlay-Mulligan caused the only other upset of the day, defeating Canberra's Josh Markham. He will now Andreas Christou, ensuring WA has a player in the final four.
UNDER 15
Jaida Wigley (NSW) and Teagan Scott (WA) have both beaten higher-seeded opponents to make it to the Girls Under 15 semis.
Wigley took down SA's Nadia van Zon in four games, while Scott also recorded a 3-1 scoreline in her win over Niah Low-Nang.
Elijah Rolls has been the beneficiary of Pakistan's top seed not appearing at the tournament, with the Victorian moving straight through to the quarters of the Boys Under 15s.
Pakistan's Syed Arman Ali Shah has beated two higher ranked opponents in as many days and will now face 3/4 seed Kaveen Kohombange.
NSW pair Max Jones and Thomas Wang will face off in the quarters after beating opponents seeded higher, with their showdown ensuring a 9/16 seed will make the semi-finals.
UNDER 13
All of the top seeds in the Boys Under 13s took wins today, however the forfeit of Pakistan's 5/8 seed sees Queensland's Hankins Leung move into the quarter-finals.
The girls draw has also seen seven of the top eight seeds progress, with Victoria's 9/16 seed Meriam Ibrahim beating WA's 5/8 seed Ella Clarke to earn a clash with Pakistan's top seed Mahnoor Ali.
UNDER 11
Roman Chassot is the only player from New Caledonia left in any of the main draws and he did so by taking down a 5/8 seed from Malaysia. Chassot was the only Boys Under 11 player not amongst the top eight seeds to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Malaysia's Iszea Amani Ishak and Sydney's Ruisha Chu are the only two undefeated players after the second day of pool matches in the Under 11 Girls competition, while Queensland's Aime Lacquiere scored her first win.
