Australian team announced for Junior Trans Tasman Test

Published Fri 20 Oct 2023

Squash Australia has selected 16 players to compete in the 2023 Trans Tasman Test Match against New Zealand in Tauranga, New Zealand on 3-4 December, 2023.

The team features a host of new faces with seven players set to make their first Test appearance.

Seven players are back from the team which claimed the Test win in Sydney last year, while Andre Lynn and Madison Lyon last competed in the series in 2018.

Lyon is one of five players on the team who represented Australia at the 2023 World Junior Championships in Melbourne, along with Amelie Guziak, Ken Lamb, Courtney Scholtz and Thomas Scott.

Lamb is joined by his sister Emmy (pictured) in the Australian team, while William Slade gets his taste of Trans Tasman action after his twin brother James featured in the 2022 side.

Reflecting their Team victory at the recent Australian Junior Championships, seven of the team hail from Victoria.

National Pathways Coach Jenny Duncalf and NSW Junior State Head Coach Jemma Wratten will accompany the team to New Zealand.

The series was not held in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID pandemic, with New Zealand winning the series the previous time they hosted in 2019.
