Australia take home medal haul from Oceania Junior Championships

Some of Australia's best young players have completed their year by taking home medals from the Oceania Junior Championships in Tauranga, New Zealand.

Under 15s Henry Kross and Tina Ma have claimed back-to-back Oceania titles having won gold last year in Sydney.

Ma took down fellow Aussie Lilly Wilson to claim gold, while Kross dropped just 13 points to defeat Max Bailey (NZ) in three games.

Madison Lyon continued her winning ways in a season in which she took out the Australian Junior Open and Australian Junior Championships, beating New Zealand's Ella Lash in the U19 Girls final.

Joanne Joseph won an all-Aussie affair in the U17 Girls decider, coming from a game down to defeat Trans Tasman Series teammate Emmy Lamb.

Thomas Wang was the youngest member of the Aussie crew to win their age group, beating New Zealand's Benji Jeffries in the final.

Silver medals were also won by Darcy Hayes (U17 Boys) and Elizabeth Wang (U13 Girls) while Isabella Wilcox (U13 Girls) won her bronze medal match. Jackson Wylie (U17 Boys) also takes home bronze after receiving a walkover.

Entries are already open for the 2024 Oceania Junior Championships to be held at Melbourne Sports Centres on 12-14 April.

The New Zealand Festival of Squash continues with the concluding stages of the NZ Open over the coming days before Australia is on court for the 2023 WSF Men’s World Team Squash Championship from 11-17 December.
